I have 15 minutes to get this blog post done, and it has to be done. Sound familiar?
You’re not alone.
If you don’t already know that you absolutely have to be blogging to make your company more accessible and high profile in terms of your Internet presence, here’s me telling you: you don’t have to do it, but you really, really should do it.
If you don’t blog, you’re writing off (haha) a huge opportunity to grow your business and become a leader in your field: either nationally or locally. There are a ton of statistics that prove that consistent bloggers get more traffic, more leads and more targeted customers.
I could get on a soap box about this subject for quite a while, but now I only have 12 minutes to finish. So here are a few quick suggestions to help you get through a blog post very quickly and produce meaningful results.
- Know your subject. If you don’t know your business and the things that people are going to be interested in, it’s going to take you a lot longer to finish a blog post quickly. So spend some time away from work reading about your industry and issues that your customers face.
- Come up with a title related to your company, industry, or customers’ interests. “When You Don’t Have Enough Time to Blog” is mine.
- Turn your title into a few questions. My questions were: “Why should people care enough to make time to blog?” and “What are 2 things people can do to make blog posts flow more quickly?”
- Answer your questions.

If the resulting blog post addresses each of these points, you should wind up with 250 to 300 words that succinctly address a problem that people have, give them reasons to care, and give them actions to take or answers to address the problem.
