VIEO Design recently celebrated our agency's best month ever by purchasing three new iPads for our staff. Now we're all aflutter (those of us who got one, anyway) with ideas regarding how to use them for our agency.
The general line of thinking is that there's gotta be something more productive to do than "painting" pictures using Sketchbook Pro (my personal fav of the fun new apps I've tried on iPad).
Of course, we've read the iPad user guide, found tons of articles regarding how to use the iPads, and we've had several discussions regarding how we will use the iPads. We've got some good ideas, and we're following up on them. But we thought we'd throw it out to you, too - how are you using iPads for your business?
Here are four of our initial favorite uses, apps and resources:
- Point of sale systems on iPad: mobile commerce is going GANGBUSTERS! It's way easier to run sales through iPad using Square than it is to run your average POS desktop software, and maybe even cheaper, depending on what merchant services you're using, and who your bank is.
- Presentations on iPad: if you make presentations in powerpoint, you can upload them to SlideShark to present them on your iPad. This is particularly useful for people who didn't purchase the more expensive iPads with data plans - in case you find yourself presenting in a client's office or other space without good wireless access.
- Virtual meetings on the iPad - anywhere: Customer connection is key, and the iPad + apps such as Skype make it incredibly easy to connect with your client from any place where you have data and a bit of quiet for the meeting. Skype has recently announced that it will offer photo and video sharing over its iPad app - a great use for businesses to share concepts with clients during screen to screen meetings.
- What Apple says about iPad + Business: it's important to consider what the creator of the iPad has to say about its uses for business. They're going to know the best practices and coolest uses, and are eager to share those with you.
So how about you? What are you doing to integrate the iPad into your day to day business?
