Two VIEO Clients Involved in Village 36 Startup Competition

This June, two of VIEO's Knoxville-based clients will be competing against other startups for $50,000 in additional funding. Smart RIA and MomSource Network will join 34 other companies in Village 36, a startup pitching competition held as a part of the 36|86 Entrepreneurship and Technology Conference.

From June 4–7, startups and investment firms from around the Southeast will gather in Nashville for 4 days of networking and cutting-edge professional development. Powered by Launch Tennessee, the 36|38 Conference gives these ambitious startups "unparalleled access to the largest gathering of early-stage investment firms in the Southeast"—a substantial opportunity that involves
curated "speed dating" sessions with investment firms and designated exhibit time, not to mention feedback from industry leaders and fellow entrepreneurs.

This isn't the first time MomSource founder Courtney Jones has been to the conference. "We've attended 36|86 for the last few years and have had the good fortune of connecting to several great advisors, investors and friends," she says. "This year we are so excited to participate as part of the Village36. We look forward to the camaraderie with fellow entrepreneurs, the exciting programming and the opportunity to celebrate our Southern business culture!"

Smart RIA is excited to attend, as well. CEO Mac Bartine shared this with us: “We are very honored to be included in 2017's Village 36. The officers of Smart RIA strongly believe the Southeast can drive business innovation through high growth startups just as well as any other region of the country, and 36|86 does an excellent job of showcasing the startups that are proving that to be true. I can’t wait to meet the cohort of startups and investors who attend.”

The startups competing for the grand prize come from 9 states across the Southeast and a range of industries, including healthcare IT, fintech, cybersecurity, advanced manufacturing, music tech, and more. Together, the Village 36 startups have raised more than $36 million for their ventures, so they're more than ready to deliver their pitch on stage in front of more than 1,000 people. Here's the lowdown on our favorites to win!
